Have a look!

(Titles in blue below are links to the school. Simply click and you'll surf to the school's website.)

Beckfoot is a Community Comprehensive School with 1600 students aged 11-18.  The school has a yearly intake of 270 students and a thriving sixth form with around 250 students.

The priorities are to provide high quality teaching and learning opportunities, a relevant and varied set of curriculum choices, excellent learner support, and a well equipped school with easy access to ICT and technology.  In November 2005, Ofsted wrote 'Beckfoot is a good school, poised to improve and become outstanding'.  Outstanding is a rating achieved by only a few schools and it is the standard to which we aspire.  This is an ambitious school fiercely determined that its students should prosper.

The school's successes continue to provide additional resources that attract the best staff and provide the best facilities.  We were one of the first Specialist Schools, becoming a Technology College in 2000 and among the first to win a second specialism for the Arts in 2004.  Beckfoot was also the first of only two Initial Teacher Training Schools in Bradford.

Above all Beckfoot is a caring, learner-centred school and it is this passion for student wellbeing that drives the ambition of staff to create a truly outstanding learning environment.  We like to think you can feel, what we call, the Beckfoot Buzz around the building and it's an ingredient that makes a lasting impression on all who learn here.

Bingley Grammar School

Although we are titled as a Grammar School through the Charter of 1529, we are in fact a large comprehensive voluntary aided state school accommodating 1935 students aged 11-18, with 370 in the VI Form. The school has a long tradition dating back to 1529, when a series of wealthy benefactors from among the people of Bingley provided a trust to support the education of the young people of the town. Situated on the edge of Bingley, the School underwent a major £4.5 million expansion and refurbishment project in 2000 to provide new teaching facilities, a new Hall, Library and Learning Resource Centre.

We were designated as a Specialist Business and Enterprise College in September 2006 and are strengthening relationships with our feeder primary schools, local businesses and the community as a result.

We are a school that is developing. We have a particular focus on developing learning and our investment in learning is evidenced in our 2007 results that show an average improvement of 11% in year 9 SATs and an improvement of 12% at GCSE level (5+A*-C English and Maths).
